There are not many accounting books that deal with the conceptual aspects of accounting and that show alternative approaches.
These days, in a global world, accounting standards (namely US GAAPP and IASB) convergence is at hand but depending upon the way you describe the divergences you may frighten the reader or be overly optimistic. That is why I beleive it is important to go back to the basic reasoning that led to such or such standard.
This book will contribute to enhance unbiassed accounting theory and help the reader make his own opinion.

This book is usually required. As far as texts go, it's not bad. However, it's about 25 lbs. There is a version that is made to go in a 3 ring binder I would reccomend, cause you can just sling the chapters you need over you shoulder and leave the other 15 pounds at home. Also, I had to buy an online thing to go with this that the new version comes with. It was , so factor that into your costs if your instructor will make you use Wiley Plus.

This book makes accounting quite easy to understand. The problems are broken up into confusing categories for each chapter (Summary exercises, brief exercises labeled BE, Exercises, Problem Set A, Problem Set B, etc) but the problems are quite helpful while not requiring too much unnecessary writing. I would highly recommend this book, especially for college courses.

I bought this Quickstudy of Accounting I. It was all right in reading and reviewing at the fast glace. But some parts of the Accounting theories and mathematics calculations, you must study a text at first. It will be a good product for somebody who has already studied Accounting I and Accountin II. If you are currently taing Accounting I and II, may be more efficient to read and review the text, and later review with this Qucikstudy.
