Thus far, I have been fairly impressed with the quality and consistency of Schaum's Outlines. While I can't fairly evaluate this book's usefulness to CPA candidates, I believe that Baruch Englard's Intermediate Accounting II provides an excellent supplement to those pursuing the CFA curriculum or students studying accounting.
I appreciated Englard's attention to accuracy - I found few errors or discrepancies (but hey that could just be me!). To his credit, he also has a good way of explaining things.
The book's copyright is 1992, but the chapter material was still very relevant. The fundamental concepts presented in the book seem to have lasting value.
Most valuable to me were chapters covering Long-Term Liabilities, Dilutive Securities and Earnings Per Share, Revenue Recognition Issues, Accounting for Leases, Statement of Cash Flows, Accounting for Pensions and Deferred Income Taxes. All of these topics are currently studied under the CFA curriculum. Englard's accounting perspective broadens the financial analysts focus and thus makes the book a very worthwhile read.
Chapter end review problems provide readers with ample opportunity to further understand concepts. I commend Schaum's Outlines for being consistent with this general format. It facilitates one's learning and increased interest in topical studies.

These books are excellent value. They are about 40% discounted on what I would've paid on the Barnes and Noble website, so I highly recommend buying them new through Amazon. Also, the content of the book is great because if you are a visual learner it really breaks down accounting problems and gives the solution. I think its a great addition to your current college textbook since most college textbooks don't have solutions to the end of chapter problems without an instructor's manual. (At least the one we use in class doesn't).

This is my first accounting course; I was a little overwelmed the first class. This changed after I got this book (required for course); this is very well written, put together, easy to navigate, etc. I find the course material much easier to grasp using this book after lectures.

I contacted the seller three times with no response. I needed a different edition of the book (which was not clearly labeled) and so I tried to cancel my order. The option was not available so I contacted the seller. To this day I have not gotten a response from the seller so that I can obtain a full refund.

I had to buy this book for my first accounting class and will use it for two semesters. It is pretty expensive, but most new books are. Nothing bad to say about it as it did help me get an A on my first test. The other reviewer gave it two stars because of his own mistake of getting the wrong book.

As a beginner in accounting, I was worried about how tough the course would be. This book does a great job of explaining the basics all the way up to more advanced things in accounting. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn accounting.

The text book was in good condition. It did have writing in the book but it didn't make it difficult to read the text. The price was ok, but maybe to high for it's condition, although I did search for the text book in other places and it would have been much more expensive for me. Thanks for the text book!
