I don't know the exact number, but I would guess about fifty.
EDIT: To add to Rene O's answer below, there were many prophets in the Bible who did not have 'Books'. People such as Moses, Elijah, Elisha, David, and others. A prophet was not a predictor of the future as many suppose. They were those to whom God spoke, and who then relayed the messages to the appropriate people. To prophesy is not to 'see the future', but to speak for God. Today, a prophet is one who teaches what God, has revealed to them in the Bible.
