Newest games lag on my computer but why?

Question by Marlon: Newest games lag on my computer but why?
I want to know what I need to buy to make newer games run smoothly on my computer
Games like assasins creed 2 and Battlefield Bad Company are laggy eventhough I have the minimum requirements.

here is my specs

processor: amd athlon 64 x2 6000+
motherboard: nvidia nforce 560
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT 512mb
Memory: 2Gig

do I need to buy a whole new computer or what?
Btw I can play Cod Mw 2. Crysis resident evil 5 with no problems and they are pretty requiring games too?

Definitely get more RAM and maybe consider picking up a quad core processor or high-end video card eventually.
