185,000 words is too long. The typical novel is between 65,000 and 90,000 words. If you've written a thriller, you can get away with 100,000 words.
What you have to think about is, if you are an unknown author, a publisher does not want to spend a lot of money to produce a large book (paper, ink, etc). They want something around 65,000 words for your first time. If that one sells, they'll take a larger novel the next time.
